Keep the tree in water at all times.

Use a stand that holds at least one gallon of water after the tree is placed in the stand.

If the cut surface dries out and seals over (takes about 6 hours) before the tree is placed in water, cut ¼ - inch off the buttom of the tree, then place the tree in a bucket of water or the tree stand.

Check the stand regularly. Trees drink up to a gallon of water each day during the first week.

Keep the trees away from heaters, hot lights, vents and fireplaces. Do not leave the lights on all night or when no one is home.
